“There is not separation between objects and subjects”

Goal: Explore relationships between people and things.Things are overlock in our lives. An object make us as fully as we make the object. 

After some brainstorming and developing the concept and ideas for this projects I went from a collection of love stories to a collection of stories in relation to objects. 

I have collected about 40 stories of objects from different friends. By looking at my data I have found very interesting relationships between subjects and objects. Here is my main classification so far:

• Friendship
• Childhood
• Survival
• Tradition
• Relationships 

Also i have other words than can be consider when it comes to classify the objects’s stories such as remembrance, love, adventure, joy, immigrant, difficulties, heritage, optimism…

Objectives:

• Story telling
• Connect 
• Share about an object that is meaningful to you
• Consider the space, what objects occupy your room? why ?
• Objects evokes time & people &space
• What does the site/app need to do? list all needs. what are its purposes listed in order of importance?
• Display the object first  then be able to read the story of the object
• To organize the stories you like in order of preference /To be able to like  stories/ To classify the stories upon interest
• To create a profile that displays objects  the person owns + summit their own  stories 
• To be able to comment on other people stories/ change ending/ suggest ideas or activities related with person who give the object to you. 
• Relate objects where they come from.
• Find stories through similar objects and be able to compare them.
• Make a gift of an object like the one featured on the website
• Navigate from one objet to another  by having similar similar tags +materials+ type of object
• To be able to locate objects.. lost and found

What do users need? how can that be provided?

• They need to feel part of the stories, they need to feel attach and active on the website. 
• That can be provided by given the possibility of joining the collection of mementos and being able to share their own objects’s stories. As well as by doing comparison, commenting and organizing the stories by their own preferences

“I collect nothing with a passion” Unconsciousness of collecting reasons are: beauty, value, utility. 

“Owning things with quantity for reasons beyond pure need”

- What is the relationship between income/money and collecting, both past and present?

• Taste and discrimination are collectors tools . 
• The idea that people want what you have. 
• The amount of work into a collection and the carrying value of elements. 

Collection drives predestinations going somewhere and leaving some old place behind, the relationship with time. Collecting something means to keep a situation, people or event related to the object or subject matter for a little bit longer.

- Have you (or a friend or family member) ever collected anything? If so what was it. Why did you (or they) do it?

My dad used to collect recipes so he could compare the changes on life’s expenses through time.

Collaboration and Community

Types of collaboration in a community: Pseudo, chaos, emptiness , expectations & preconceptions,  prejudices and need of control. 

“Life is something that happens when you have plan something else” The idea in collaboration is that there is always something need to be sacrifice in order to make a community functional. Sometimes could be ideas, points of disagrement, sof the individualism on the thinking.

The sense of community is develop by understating and interacting with other beyond their who they are, where they come from and what their believes are. 

Organization Strategies are always a way to get different outcomes. The reading explains the “Organization is simplification” The more variations in classification the reacher the simplification of information will be and more reachable to an outsider. 

Audience: They are the spectators, and the experience they receive is limited by their intellectual experience. It relays on how they will welcome new ideas. They are always seeking for the best experience in the use of information, media and pleasure. The TRUE CHALLENGE is to deliver the right message to the right audience and that this message meets its objectives with the audiences expectations.

Personas: Fictional characters that are use to represent different user types within a target demographic attitude or behavior.That may use the site/product in a similar way marketing segmentation. It helps to make desitions about: service/product, interaction/space, visual design of a website. 

Each persona study should include behavior, attitudes, environments, goals, skills, gender, age. 

Each strong brand has a tribe that shares affinity with the brand’s values. The only problem sometimes is that the persona is a fictional character. 

The interface should be something easy to understand, intuitive to preform. What they want, what they need, will they be able to preform it? 

It is important to know we are not designing for ourselves, we are designing for people. 

Looking for a story.

I did a census of what people collect. It seems to me that most of the people collect similar things. It is kind of a compulsive and unaware action. I collect postcards myself of different places I have been to, as well money, bracelets of different countries I have visit. There is a story behind each bracelet I have, and the postcards.

Idea 1. Handwritten Letters

I though on doing a hand written letters/ postcards collection where each one has a story behind it. A friends that are far away send it or maybe is a better way to show that some really matters to you. By having hand written letters it feels more personalize than an email or Facebook message or post. It is a way to see an appreciate the tactile aspect of a letter. The intend with this will be to create a community that writes letters to the forgiven friends. Makes them feel special and builds up new kinds of friendship. You can find people to write to and create you own story of why you write hand written letters rather than just email, text, or any cybernetic objects. 

Idea 2. Id/Passport  Collector 

IDs  collector, the story behind will be a taxi driver who has a collection of people’s forgotten ids in his car. The IDs will be from different countries, with fun pictures…and the categories i was thinking about will be by different names, organization of the information and continent distribution…The story behind this will be that each ID was forgotten when they where going to a destination and to preform an activity… Users will be able to find which ways are the most commun one to loss an ID or passport

Idea 3. Wine bottle /corks 

Wine comes from different places, so do traditions. They idea with wine will be a collection of bottles around the world this bottle would have  used in different celebrations. It is a way to unveil traditions, culture, design bottles and to learn new ways of sharing a delicious bottle of wine. 

Idea 4.  Love stories..// ” Old enough to know better young enough to do it anyway” 

The broken hearts, everyone has had at least one but how many stories one person have, how may times can you make the same mistake in several relationships. How do you find love? first sight ? friendship? Are you in distance relationship? how do you make it work? Cheating why is so commun ?  Intercultural relationships Fun ways to break up… 

A collection of love stories a collection of boyfriends and girlfriends an opportunity to share you own collection of lovers, to read real stories to understand and give and get advice. What makes a relationship so distintive which object was left behind it that represents the couple’s story ?
